Why Prism?
When white light travels through a prism it separates into a spectrum of colors.
Much like the way a prism can take one color of light and refract it into the colors of the rainbow, therapy can allow a person to come in with one stuck viewpoint and support in the uncovering of a variety of alternative perspectives.

“Why am I stuck? Why can’t I get past this?”
You may be wondering “Why am I stuck? Why can’t I get passed this?”
When your brain experiences a trauma or an overwhelming experience, protective measures automatically go into action to help you survive.
Some of these protective measures then stop you from being able to fully process the event because memories are not clear and coherent, but more likely to be remembered in the form of “emotions, body sensations, changes in breathing or heart rate, tensing, bracing, collapsing, or just feeling overwhelmed (Ogden, Minton, & Pain 2006).
We see you as a whole person, not a disorder.
At Prism Wellness, our goal is to assist you in processing any thoughts holding you back from the life you want to live while assisting you in learning how to acknowledge the strengths you embody.
We like to get to know you as a whole person, not as a disorder, and collaborate to identify specific steps to support you in achieving your goals.
These steps could include challenging destructive thought patterns, resolving unprocessed trauma, learning mindfulness or meditation techniques, or working with another professional to promote wellness through diet, exercise, or medication management.

L.
Lesley and I have been working together for about 5 years, and to say that she is the best therapist I have ever had is seriously understating. Finding a therapist you can truly trust and rely on is so incredibly hard, but she gives her all and then some and I cannot be more blessed to know her. She has gone above her call to duty more times than I could count, whether it was checking on me after business hours, researching facilities that best suited my needs, or even connecting me with resources within my community when I didn't have insurance to go see her (and then some). She has been my biggest supporter like no one else ever has been, and she takes the time to help me understand what I'm feeling and reasons why I might be feeling that way in a way I can understand. Thank you for all you do and have done!

"I really didn't want to start therapy, but I knew I had to change something. My doctor recommended I reached out to Prism. The website made me feel less scared, although I was really anxious for my first session. My therapist was really supportive and I didn't feel like I had to tell her everything or have it "figured out." I'm really happy that I started to do the work."

We look forward to meeting you!
